McDougal Clouse is an integrated design-build company. Based in Dallas since 2008, the firm specializes in residential architecture, new builds, and large-scale additions. Our goal is to create truly custom homes that reflect the unique personality of the owners—homes with careful consideration to function and your patterns of living. Our designs are timeless and pay homage to established architectural styles while bringing a fresh interpretation. We value materials and views that are carefully curated and sensitive to surrounding landscape and your neighborhood. We design and build spaces to gather and places for rest. WHAT DESIGN-BUILD MEANS FOR OUR CLIENTS

With a design-build process, we provide architectural design and construction services as a single contract with our homeowners. This single point of contact for both design and construction is the McDougal Clouse design-build distinction. Our roles as architectural designer and homebuilder are integrated, resulting in a unified flow of work from concept to completion. United from the onset of the project, our integrated team readily works to successfully complete a project faster. Our design-build concept is a highly collaborative, fully integrated process that is built on trust, mutual respect, teamwork, innovation and creative problem solving.

KENDRA MCDOUGAL

Principal + Architectural Design

Kendra McDougal first joined the team in 2016 as the architect for Principal Scott Clouses’ personal residence. Through that process, Scott and Kendra saw a need and opportunity to better serve clients by combining their specialized interests of design and construction as part of a seamless, client-centric process. Kendra loves building relationships with people and being invited into their lives and homes. Discovering how they desire to do life with others within their home and then embracing the challenge of finding physical solutions that best fit their vision, needs, and budget.

Kendra’s passion for good design is also shared by her husband of 26 years, Truby, a fellow architect and project manager for McDougal Clouse; as well as, her two oldest daughters, Abbey and Savannah, who are studying architecture at Texas A&M, their parents’ alma mater. Kendra and Truby live in the Prairie Creek neighborhood of Richardson, with their youngest daughter, Emma.

SCOTT CLOUSE

Principal + Project Consultant

Scott Clouse is the founding principal at McDougal Clouse and is responsible for introductory consulting meetings and walking potential clients through the estimating process. With a passion for design and construction, Scott, along with his late wife, Jen, fulfilled a lifelong dream by building their own custom home in Lakewood. This process gave Scott an even greater understanding of the homebuilding experience from the client’s perspective, as he sought to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing dwelling for he and his son, Lincoln.

Scott’s favorite part about his job is the initial client meeting. Scott notes, "I’m not here to win business, so much as I am to educate and inform. I view the initial meeting as a free consultation, from one consumer to another, educating the homeowner and guiding them through the decision process."

Kendra and Scott’s attention to detail when designing and building our new home is unmatched. During the initial consultation and design phases, Kendra and Scott both said they design and build houses as though they were their own homes. Now that our house is being built, it is readily apparent that they mean what they say. Kendra is constantly monitoring the construction to make sure it is not only being built pursuant to the plans, but also making suggestions along the way that show she truly wants our house to be the perfect home for our family. Kendra and Scott are also incredibly personable. We appreciated their open, honest communication style from the get go, and it was clear they cared about getting to know us and our family during the design process. We now consider them to be friends. They are wonderful at what they do and are all around wonderful people! We have truly enjoyed our experience and would not hesitate to recommend Kendra and Scott.
